This report was created in 1979 by Geo/Resources Consultants for Mr Lee Jackson who was preparing to sell the property to a developer.

Geo/Resources Consultants found several active traces in this property connected to the Hayward Fault, and deemed only a small section of the lower portion of this property was developable.  In order to sell the property a separate geological consultant was engaged to produce a more favorable report.

In January 1992 there was a proposal to build on this land. The Project was called Bridgeview Court, and a Draft Environmental Impact Report (EIR) was generated by Darwin Myers and Associates.  New geological reports, which claimed the property was build-able were incorporated into the EIR, and this Geo/Resources report was somehow left out of the EIR, even though Darwin Myers had a copy of it.

During the preliminary information gathering phase of the Draft EIR, the engineer who worked on this report - then working for the City of Oakland, informed us of the existence of this report with her former employer - Geo/Resources Consultants.  This engineer had physically walked the excavation trenches described in this report and had personally viewed the fault traces described herein.

We then learned that Darwin Myers Associates actually had a copy of this report and the Hillside Neighborhood Committee, working on gathering information to include in the final draft of the EIR, asked them for it. It was provided without delay.

Then we delivered that report personally to the City of Oakland's office in control of approving the project, along with a letter (included behind the geological study herein) calling for a new comprehensive geological study on the subject property, with open invitations to all interested geological professionals to review the open trenches.  In the face of a possible geological controversy, no new studies were launched and the entire Bridgeview Court project was scrapped.   The website simsonhill.com was created and this report has been online since then.  We do not know if our requests to make a clean copy of this report into the microfiche records was carried out.

In April of 2000, yet another unsuspecting business man attempted to develop this property. Apparently no one told him about the geology, because once he learned about this report, his efforts ceased.  Hopefully all parties who have expressed interest in this land have been able to find this report, either online, or on file with the City of Oakland.  We've heard that real-estate laws require full disclosure of these kinds of reports, and we hope no one has purchased this land without knowledge of the geological problems that exist on this lot.  We have recently modified our html code to improve visibility.

Hopefully, anyone interested in this parcel will read this report so as to gain a more realistic picture of the actual condition and real building possibilities that exist for this parcel.  The probability of being able to develop the full area of this parcel with active fault traces on it is very low. However the lower, flatter section of the property could be developed.
